North Tyneside 'In Bloom' North Shields town centre won the Ernest Pepper Award in the 'North Tyneside In Bloom 2004' competition. The Chamber wishes to thank Jim Richardson who gave up his time to water the plants.. Although new baskets were trialled with built-in water reservoirs, they still required a lot of watering. Jim regretfully had to step down from this task in 2005. Alan Billany stepped forward to volunteer for the watering of the plants last year and has kindly agreed to continue this year. Congratulations also to the Beacon Shopping Centre which after years of trying, finally won the first prize in 2005 for the 'Best High Street Business category.' The town centre hanging baskets are now in place and looking promising. Alan's job is made easier with the recent downpours rendering him temporarily redundant! |
